Midwest Advanced Crop Consulting (MACC) is an education program primarily developed to teach farmers how to increase corn yields on their farms in the midwest. The program was developed by farmers for farmers.
National Corn Yield Contest winner Kevin Kalb, along with Terry Vissing have combined their collective knowledge and experiences to create a program that will make you see things differently and understand the science behind the yields.
Every farm is different and what works on one farm may very well not work on another. Rather than telling farmers a set formula to increase their yields, this program teaches them how to set the formula themselves, based on their farm's data and intermittent results.
The program consists of a series of meetings with presentations, demonstrations, and interactive discussions on how to accomplish yield increase. An understanding of the tissue samples and how to use that data is at the core of the program. You will learn effective ways of testing what works and what doesn't and how to make continuous improvements.
Each meeting will discuss an anonymous tissue sample data relative to a high-yielding tissue sample data. We will point out the problems we see with the sample and how to fix them.
Meetings will also focus on techniques for planters and other equipment; effective brands of seed, herbicide, and fertilizer for the midwest, herbicide timing; and maybe most importantly, fertilizer placement and timing.
Kevin Kalb is an expert on midwest soils, proven by his record as a 14-time winner of the National Corn Yield Contest sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association.
Kevin is considered one of the top farmers in the nation, if not the world. His family has been farming for over 5 generations. Based in Southern Indiana, Kevin manages the operation of the family farm under the name Kevin Kalb Farms. The farm produces corn, soybeans and turkeys.
Asked about the secrets of his success, Kevin says "Everything I do is based on tissue samples. I don't guess anymore. High-yielding corn needs balanced nutrients applied when the plants need them."
Kevin has three state placements for the highest yield in Indiana. His personal best came in 2021, when he delivered 409 bushel-per-acre results.
Kevin is the primary presenter. Along with Terry Vissing and Joe Dedman, with Monty's Plant Food, the team has an impressive coverage area with some of the most comprehensive knowledge of the midwest soil and to how get the most from it.
